What is Neki32?

Neki32 is a 32-bit game console. It emphasizes what's unique to game consoles - the focus, the simplicity, the compatibility, and the controllers too. Plus, it doesn't need an internet connection and won't waste time installing stuff. Put the game in, hit the "On" button, and have fun!

The Neki32 console has a very ecologically-friendly design. This is a positive way of saying it's tiny. Hardware features include:

When can I buy one?

Right now, if you really want to. There aren't many games for it, unfortunately.

We can fix this though! If you're a developer, programmer, hacker, or otherwise computer-adjacent person, you could start developing for Neki32 today. Consoles are in production now and the SDK is available on this web site.

Are there games I can try for free?

Yes! Here are some example games that you can download and write to an SD card to try. The files are provided as ISO images, because they use the same filesystem as a CD. You can write one of these to a blank SD card using a disk imaging tool. For help with this process, SparkFun offers a good tutorial.

You can download the following games at this site:

Yeah, we got FreeDoom! At least it's not Red Steel.

How do I develop software for Neki32?

A software development kit is available for download. The SDK runs on Linux- or BSD-compatible computers. It contains a toolchain set up to compile programs for Neki32. A manual is provided which describes how game cards boot and run.

The power connector is also secretly a USB serial port, with a GDB-RSP interpreter behind it. GDB can be used to load and debug code on the real machine with nothing extra to buy.

The SDK is available here:

The manual is also available here:

The SDK also includes FreeDoom.
